Akkale is a late antique / Byzantine harbor town with numerous buildings constructed in beautifully coursed ashlar masonry and with a very unusual Christian mausoleum whose plan is based on a Syrian paradigm.  This site, which is located between the fortifications at Korykos and Lamas on the Mediterranean Sea, was partially occupied in the medieval period.
