Ayas / Yumurtalık [Grk: Aegae; Arab: Ᾱyās; Arm: Ayas; Itl: Laiazzo, Lajazzo; Frank: Laias] has a late antique / medieval fortified harbor (or Land Castle) which consists today of a single circuit wall that defends the landward flank with rounded towers and a polygonal salient.  There are numerous periods of construction.  A separate Island Castle has a Hellenistic / Roman-period foundation, but the masonry of the surviving fortress has the hallmarks of Armenian construction with the well-drafted rusticated ashlar.
