Çalan is a large Crusader fortress with two baileys (perhaps La Roche de Roissol).  Extensive damage to the circuit wall has removed many traces of salients.  The upper bailey has the foundations of several buildings, including a chapel.  Just 15 km north of the Belen Pass, this site helped to guard a vital route through the Anti-Taurus Mts. between Trapesac and Sarı Seki.
