Çalan is
a large Crusader fortress with two baileys (perhaps La Roche de Roissol).
Extensive damage to the circuit wall has removed many traces of
salients. The upper bailey has the
foundations of several buildings, including a chapel. Just 15 km north of the Belen Pass, this site
helped to guard a vital route through the Anti-Taurus Mts. between Trapesac and
Sarı Seki.
