Çardak is
a large Byzantine garrison fortress with a polygonal plan and several circular
towers. There are Armenian additions,
including a chapel. This site is located
east of Osmaniye and guarded an important route from Cilicia Pedias and Toprak
through the Anti-Taurus Mts. to the Antioch-Maraş highway.
