Yılan is an impressive Armenian castle with over a dozen towers, three baileys and a chapel.  The relief added to the reconstructed upper bailey gatehouse depicts an Armenian king of the mid-13th c. or later.  The entire castle was undoubtedly built prior to the renovation of the gatehouse.  This site is northeast of Misis near the highways linking Sis, Anavarza, Toprak, and Tarsus.
