Payas [Arab: Bayās or Baiyās] consists of two 16th c. Ottoman fortifications (a single-bailey harbor fortress with a substantial keep and a large garrison fortress), both built by Armenian masons.  They are located on the Mediterranean Sea near the highway between Iskenderun (Alexandretta) and Cilicia Pedias.
