Payas
[Arab: Bayās or Baiyās] consists of two 16th c. Ottoman fortifications (a
single-bailey harbor fortress with a substantial keep and a large garrison
fortress), both built by Armenian masons.
They are located on the Mediterranean Sea near the highway between
Iskenderun (Alexandretta) and Cilicia Pedias.
