Haruniye /
Düziçi [Arab: al-Haruniyyah;
Arm: Harun or Harunia; Frank: Haronia
or Aronie] is an Arab garrison
fortress with a single bailey and one massive rounded tower at the
northeast. Significant repairs were made
by the Crusaders (Teutonic Knights), Armenians, and Mamluks. It is located in the Anti-Taurus Mts. and
guarded a strategic route between Cilicia Pedias and the Maraş-Antioch
highway. The plan and photos presented
here predate the disastrous Turkish renovations.
