Korykos / Kız Kalesi [Arab: Qurqus; Grk: Kōrykios or Kourikos; Arm: Kiwṙikos, Korikos or Gurigos; Frank: Curcum, Curtum or le Courc] is a fortified harbor consisting of a land castle with three chapels, primarily of Byzantine construction, and a sea castle with one chapel, primarily of Byzantine and Armenian construction.  To the north is a Hellenistic / late antique / Byzantine city with 13 churches and chapels, an extensive necropolis, and several civic buildings.  This city was partially occupied by the Armenians.  This site defended the coastal road between Silifke and Tarsus.
